- Demand for Safer Chemistry Will Stimulate Growth and Jobs for Years
“Making the Business & Economic Case for Safer Chemistry” estimates that demand for safer chemicals will result in more growth and jobs than conventional chemistry through 2020. The report, commissioned by the Green Chemistry & Commerce Council and the American Sustainable Business Council concludes that liabilities associated with conventional chemistry, and consumer demand for healthier products will encourage strong growth in the ‘safer’ chemistry industry.

- ICFPA Releases ‘Statement on Paper Recycling”
ICFPA (International Council of Forest and Paper Associations) released a two page statement on policies designed to increase paper recycling. The Statement also includes interesting tidbits such as paper that is old, such as that stored for long periods of time as books or archival records, usually cannot withstand the recycling process. It also says that paper fibers can be recycled anywhere from five to seven times in new paper products. The statement goes on to encourage more source-separated collection of paper as opposed to mingling it with other recyclables. This keeps the quality of the collected paper from being diminished due to contamination with dirt, liquids and food residue.
